Oncology Department

Oncology Department

Specific care for oncological patients, by experts for the  care and assistance at every step of the treatment.

Oncology Department

Separate fully equipped facilities

The Oncology Department has 6 individual boxes equipped with adjustable armchairs and TV sets, so that the patient can receive treatment in a quiet room and in the company of his relatives. The service uses a coordination protocol with all departments, for immediate medical care.

The service has a fast logged circuit for the activation of all services involved in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer.

Coordination with the laboratory, Radiology, Pathological Anatomy and Nuclear Medicine departments enables the service to speed up tests for early diagnosis and, if necessary, an agile start of treatment.

An added value is the multidisciplinary tumour committee, consisting of specialists in Oncology, Radiology, Pathological Anatomy and other disciplines, who meet weekly to discuss cases individually and decide on the most appropriate treatment for each patient.

The Molecular Biology Laboratory at Clinica Rotger provides important information for the oncologist in order to tailor the treatment to the genetic characteristics of the tumour. In addition, the Nuclear Medicine Institute at Clinica Rotger has the only PET-TC and SPECT equipment in the private healthcare sector on the Balearic Islands that makes it possible to detect tumours with a diameter of 3 mm.

Cancer patients who need in-hospital care at Clinica Rotger for complications or complementary treatments are cared for by the same medical team of oncologists who look after them in the day clinic, so that the specialist is always informed about the exact pathology of the patient and can adapt the treatment.
